What to Expect from a HydraFacial Treatment?

Posted by Dr Theva in Anti-Aging, Face Care, Skin.

There is no denying the many benefits of getting a good facial. After all, facials are a tried-and-tested way to rejuvenate the skin, reduce fine wrinkles, and improve acne. However, not everyone enjoys the immediate aftermath of a facial. If only there was a way to enjoy the benefits of facials without the redness, skin irritation and breakouts afterwards. Fortunately, there is! Thanks to advancements in beauty technology, women all over Melbourne can now enjoy a HydraFacial treatment.

A HydraFacial is a special facial rejuvenation treatment method that cleanses, exfoliates, and removes dead skin cells all in one go. Along with clearing impurities, the HydraFacial treatment applies a special serum rich in antioxidants, hyaluronic acid, and peptides to nourish the skin.

It’s a non-invasive treatment that rejuvenates and refreshes your skin without harsh chemical peels or dermabrasion. It provides instant results and leaves your skin looking healthier and younger.

What to Expect from a HydraFacial Treatment?

What is a HydraFacial Treatment?

HydraFacial treatment is similar to a microdermabrasion. This form of dermabrasion is usually called a hydra-dermabrasion and is a far gentler form of microdermabrasion. Using jets of water, instead of lasers or abrasive materials such as crystals, it lightly exfoliates the surface of the skin.

The patented technology combines cleansing, exfoliation, hydration, and antioxidant application to help achieve glowing and healthy skin. Through a 3-step process, it extracts dead skin cells, removes impurities and dirt, and hydrates dull and aging skin. The end result? Skin that looks instantly revitalised, fresh and years younger.

How Does a HydraFacial Treatment Work?

This hydra-dermabrasion treatment uses the unique and effective Vortex-Fusion delivery system to help exfoliate, extract, and hydrate your skin. The HydroPeel Tips have a spiral design to ensure that extraction is painless. When the HydroPeel Tips, the hydrating serums, and the vacuum technology work together, a vortex effect is created. This allows any impurities to be easily dislodged and removed as the hydrating skin solutions are delivered to the skin.

There are three steps to this treatment: cleanse and peel, extract and hydrate, and fuse and protect. Together, they work to give you smooth, healthy, younger-looking skin instantly.

What Skin Conditions is HydraFacial Suitable for?

Is your usual skincare regime not giving you the results you want? Have you had enough of the irritation chemical peels cause your skin? Then a HydraFacial session could be right for you! Designed to deeply cleanse the skin, extract and hydrate this procedure can be used to address several skin concerns, including:

Fine Lines & Wrinkles

When the collagen and elastin in your skin break down, fine lines and wrinkles may start to appear. Their appearance is a natural part of the ageing process, but smoking, genetics, and sun exposure can result in more fine lines and wrinkles at a younger age. Repeated facial movements and expressions also contribute to the formation of wrinkles and fine lines.

When the HydraFacial treatment lifts, removes dead skin cells, and encourages the new, healthier skin cells to the surface of your skin, the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines will be diminished. Your skin will look younger and healthier after this unique facial treatment. Your skin will be cleansed, hydrated, and lines and wrinkles will be less noticeable.

Clogged & Enlarged Pores

Our pores help our body release oils and sweat, but they also can trap and hold dirt and oil. This can lead to a whole host of skin issues like acne, premature wrinkles, and discolouration. That means that getting rid of clogged pores helps your skin’s function and appearance improve in many areas. The unique vortex extraction of this treatment gets beneath the surface of the skin to lift dirt and other impurities out of your pores and leaves behind a vibrant, radiant skin.

Oily Skin

Some people have naturally oily skin. Others develop oily skin thanks to their environment or lifestyle. Oily skin can result in clogged pores and acne.

The HydraFacial treatment combats oily skin by providing deep cleaning and hydration. It will remove excess sebum and can help unclog pores as well as prevent future acne.

Dull, Dry & Lacklustre Skin Texture

Having dull and dry skin can be irritating. You may even experience itching, cracking, and scaling as you age or enter the fall and winter months. Thanks to the hydrating effects of this treatment and its serums, it can effectively combat dry skin. After your treatment session, you will have supple, hydrated, and healthy skin.

Dark spots (Hyperpigmentation) may be caused by sun damage, hormonal changes, previous inflammation caused by acne, or other skin injuries. This treatment gently removes layers of dead skin cells so new and even skin cells will come to the surface. This then reduces the appearance of hyperpigmented areas.

Thanks to this treatment’s ability to give your pores a deep clean, it can also help eliminate whiteheads, blackheads and acne.

What to Expect During a HydraFacial

A HydraFacial begins just like most facial treatments. We cleanse and carefully examine your skin, asking about your concerns to ensure we deliver the best possible treatment. If a HydraFacial is suitable for you, we start the luxurious, hydrating 30-minute treatment.

Using the hand-held device, we direct a gentle spray of water over your skin. There’s enough force in the water to exfoliate your skin and remove dead skin cells from the surface.

In the second stage, we use a specially designed HydraPeel tip to vacuum out any impurities, oils, and blackheads. This stage helps extract blackheads and other impurities.

During the third stage of the treatment, serums are applied to your face, which will instantly hydrate, nourish, and plump up your skin for vibrant and youthful results. Your pores are open, and the layer of old dry skin that can interfere with absorption are gone.

This is a painless treatment. The mixture of salicylic and glycolic acids used during the treatment is gentle enough for those with sensitive skin and the vacuum technology is gentle and non-irritating to the skin.

What to Expect Post HydraFacial

There are no risks or side effects associated with a HydraFacial treatment. However, you could experience some redness for 2-4 hours post-treatment.

You also may have some flaking on the day 2-3 post-treatment. This is additional dead skin cells that were released by the chemical peel. Please do not pick at the peeling skin.

You should avoid using any harsh skincare products, including cleansers, toners, or masks, at home for several days following your HydraFacial. This allows your skin to benefit from the rich, moisturising treatment fully.

Another benefit of this treatment is the lack of downtime. Once your appointment is finished, you can go about your daily activities as usual.

How Many Treatments Are Needed to See Results?

HydraFacial takes approximately 30 minutes to complete, and the effects are visible for about one week. Just one treatment is needed to see immediate results, but more than one session can be beneficial for visible skin refinement and improvement. For long term skin health, we recommend including treatment as part of your monthly skincare routine.

To reduce the effects of ageing or remove dark spots from the skin, a monthly appointment will produce the best results. Those with enlarged pores or oily skin can also benefit from regular monthly treatments.
